Recycled Machines and a Day at the Beach!

The Superstars created Recycled Machines out of recycled materials. We started out with a blue print of what they wanted their machines to look like, how it would function, and the items they thought they would need. After we got an amazing amount of donated items the students were then able to put their machines to life! We spent a little over two weeks working on these and they had an blast building them!!

Last Friday we joined the Navigators, Sharks and Ladybugs for a day at the beach. We got to go on a extreme low tide day...this allowed us to see all types of sea life and creatures!

Writing, Chihuly Art, campfires and more!

We have been very busy in the Superstars room over the last few weeks. We also have been having difficulty loading pictures to our blog so I apologize for not getting it done sooner.

The Superstars have been working hard at their creative writing. We have started doing writing centers in the morning. We give students objects to either paint, build, or draw a picture. Once the students have created their artwork they then are asked to write a creative story explaining what is happening in their artwork. This is a fun and creative way to get the students excited to write and to want to write more!

We got together with our Early Learning Team and did some Eric Carle textures paintings. Once the paintings dried, we then created illustrations for our story. We had some great outcomes of this project, and they look amazing!

We have also been working hard on our auction project. To prepare for our trip to the glass museum we did a Chihuly style art projects. Students colored different sized color cups and then we melted them down to create a beautiful chandelier for our classroom.

In honor of Earth day we participated in Earth Hour in the classroom on Wednesday. We kept the lights off in the room all day to conserve energy. The students created a  "camp fire" and told stories!

We are so impressed with all of the Science Fair projects that came in. All the Superstars did an amazing job! Below is a little peak at a few of them.

Diorama Sneak Peek

Last week we had an animal habitat show and tell. One of our students found a tree that was struck by lightening and inside it was a woodpeckers home! The students were thrilled to be able to examine this rare site.

The last few weeks students have been working on their animal reports. Now that the research part of the project is complete the Superstars have started to make Dioramas for their animals. They are each making their own animals habitat, and evironments to share with everyone! They are beyond excited!!
Here is a sneak peek at their work.

A Wonderful Day at the Zoo!

Superstars had an amazing day at the Zoo! The weather was Sunny, and even a little warm towards the end of the day. Each student was assigned an animal to start animal reports next week! The students were able to explore these animals habitats, what they eat and even a few were able to ask a zoologist a few questions! Take a look at our little explorers.
